Standing Together for Equality, Dignity, and Human Rights
Warm Greetings,
Welcome to CAN-Myanmar (Civil Authorize Negotiate Organization).
When CAN-Myanmar was founded on May 11, 2011, it emerged from a crucial need: to build a dedicated platform where LGBTIQA+ individuals in Myanmar could find safety, empowerment, and a unified voice for their fundamental rights. As one of the country’s pioneering LGBTIQA+-led Local Non-Governmental Organizations (LNGOs), our journey has been driven by resilience, solidarity, and an unyielding commitment to justice.
Over the years, we have worked tirelessly to address systemic inequalities, combat discrimination, and protect human rights for all marginalized communities. We believe that true social progress is achieved not only through strategic policy advocacy and negotiation, but also by empowering grassroot networks and cultivating local leadership from within the community.
Despite the evolving challenges in Myanmar, our dedication remains unwavering. We continue to provide safe spaces, capacity-building opportunities, and legal advocacy to ensure that every individual—regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or sex characteristics (SOGIESC)—can live with dignity, freedom, and equal opportunity.
Our achievements belong to our vibrant community, dedicated team, and courageous partners who walk alongside us. We invite you to explore our work, partner with us, and stand together in our shared vision for a more inclusive and just society.
Thank you for your continued support and solidarity.
In Solidarity,
Saw Zin Maung Soe @ Cicer, (All Pronouns) Founder & Chairperson of the Board of consultants of CAN-MYANMAR
