About

Empowering LGBTQIA+ Communities, Defending Human Rights FOR ALL

Civil Authorize Negotiate Organization Myanmar (C.A.N-Myanmar) is an LGBTQIA+-led local non-governmental organization founded in May 2011 in Mandalay, Myanmar.

C.A.N-Myanmar works to advance human rights, equality, inclusion, and social justice by empowering LGBTQIA+ communities and other marginalized populations. Since its establishment, the organization has been committed to promoting human rights awareness, preventing violations, strengthening community leadership, and building a more inclusive society in Myanmar.

For more than a decade, C.A.N-Myanmar has collaborated with human rights defenders, community leaders, civil society organizations, activists, and international partners to promote dignity, accountability, and equal rights for all people.

As one of Myanmar’s pioneering LGBTQIA+ human rights organizations, C.A.N-Myanmar has contributed significantly to the development of the LGBTQIA+ movement, civil society networks, and democratic participation in Myanmar.

Following the military coup in February 2021, C.A.N-Myanmar has continued its human rights work by supporting vulnerable communities, documenting human rights violations, strengthening community resilience, and contributing to accountability and justice efforts.
